For Memorial Day weekend back in May me and my aunt decided to take a trip down to the Outer Banks to enjoy the sunshine and go on a kayaking tour that we booked down the Outer Banks. We went up on Saturday morning and enjoyed exploring the town. I found this hilarious shirt that said "Don't ask the locals for directions- they've lost one colony already!" The Outer Banks of North Carolina are where the original colonies were as well as where the original "Lost Colony" was.
That evening we went over and met up with a group of people and our guide for the kayaking tour! The tour on the Outer Banks was especially fun because we went through such a variety of areas. There were areas of tall grass and shallow water where we could see the fish and crabs on the bottom of the water, we went through deeper waters where we saw some endangered species of birds and went around remains of piers that were used back in the day, and we went up and down the coast line. Me and Kimberly had been working out and exercising our arms in preparation for the tour and it really paid off! We were ready and able to really enjoy the kayaking tour and kept up with the guide. It was a beautiful tour and we got back just as the sun was setting- it was beautiful!
For the rest of our trip we enjoyed hanging out by the beach and exploring some of the small beach towns. We went and walked around Duck Beach for hours enjoying the small town feel of this beach area. I've decided that I adore shops that are on piers that are right up on the water! Myrtle Beach had an area like that called "Broadway at the Beach" but there were also a few places like that at Duck Beach. I really want to vacation there again soon, it was an amazing Memorial Day weekend!
